Marcus Stavrakis is the Director of Aurelium, a financial literacy brand focused on making complex financial decisions simple for everyday Australians.

An actuary by training, Marcus specialises in applying the same financial modelling techniques used by banks, insurers, and institutional investors to consumer financial decision-making. His work spans banking, consulting, and capital strategy, with experience advising general insurers, non-bank lenders, government bodies, and ASX-listed companies on investment strategy, risk modelling, and capital optimisation.

Marcus currently works in a capital optimisation role at National Australia Bank, where he contributes to large-scale financial modelling and balance sheet strategy. Prior to this, he worked across major financial institutions including Westpac and consulting firms such PriceWaterHouseCoopers and Finity consulting, involving insurers, government bodies and financial services organisations.

He holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Science from Monash Business School and a postgraduate non-award in actuarial studies from Macquarie University, and is an Associate of the Actuaries Institute.

Alongside his professional work, Marcus contributes to the development of the finance profession through leadership roles including Deputy Chair of Young Finance Professionals at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Board Member of the Young Actuaries Advisory Board at the Actuaries Institute, and board member of the Generation i Council at Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Through Aurelium, Marcus aims to make institutional-grade financial insights accessible to consumers. The company’s flagship platform, Delphi IQ, applies advanced actuarial modelling, scenario analysis, and Australian tax and superannuation rules to help Australians better understand their retirement future. By combining powerful analytics with intuitive design, Aurelium’s goal is simple: make great financial decisions easier.
